The Astraia Foundation is helping to set up a mobile clinic to serve the health needs of the women and children in the impoverished villages at the foot of the Rwenzori range. The clinic will offer both practical medical services and training to women who are often too poor to afford transport to the nearest hospital, turning instead to traditional healers.
Cathy O’Dowd – the 1st woman in the world to have climbed Everest from both sides – and a founder of ASTRAIA, will be raising funds for the project by leading a trek to the Rwenzori mountains. In addition the group will visit the hospital that supports the mobile clinic. We will continue to keep you informed of the progress.
