30 km outside the city of Maradi, a town in the West African country of Niger, ASTRAIA promotes the construction of a training classroom for women who have been expelled from their families and tribes. In the classroom they have, for the first time in their lives, the chance to learn reading and sewing, skills that can provide the basis for a future income. Twelve sisters, led by Marie Catherine, train and teach these homeless women and their children. The care by the sisters as well as learning of reading, writing and dressmaking is the only chance for those women for a future income.
